Meet the Authors Amanda Niehaus & Josie Dietrich
Wednesday November 27th 6pm – Meet the Authors Amanda Niehaus and Josie Dietrich. Listen to how two new mothers wrote their way back from a cancer diagnosis to recovery.
This year, more than 19,000 Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer – and, thanks to medical advancements, most will survive it. But what does survival look like for younger women with the disease?
Books @ Stones are pleased to host a conversation between Brisbane writers and breast cancer survivors, Dr Amanda Niehaus (author of The Breeding Season, Allen & Unwin, 2019) and Josie Dietrich (author of In Danger: A Memoir of Family and Hope, UQP, 2018).
Both Amanda and Josie were diagnosed with breast cancer in their early- or mid-30s, when their children were less than a year old. Their treatments caused early menopause (with all its joys) and changed their career plans and perspectives on life. Both wrote books confronting their experiences-Amanda wrote a novel and Josie, a memoir.
This is a free event but please phone to book your seat.
